Plumbing Inspector Position Opening

Position: Part-Time/Full-Time Certified Plumbing Inspector

The Champaign Health District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Plumbing Inspector.

Qualifications and Position Requirements:

Ability to conduct residential and commercial plumbing inspections to determine compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Communicate effectively with contractors, homeowners, and the public. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required. Must be a Certified Plumbing Inspector (CPI) in Ohio.

Position Type: Part or Full-Time

Hours: Monday through Friday - 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. (1 hour lunch)

Salary: $20.10 - $33.37/hr. Negotiable based on qualifications and experience.

Job Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Inspects commercial and residential building projects during various stages of construction and remodeling; enforce compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations; recommend modifications and adjustments as necessary

Performs field inspections to examine and evaluate commercial and residential plumbing work performed and materials used; verifies quality of workmanship, quality of materials used, and compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes and regulations

Inspects existing commercial and residential structures for change of use, occupancy, or compliance with applicable codes and ordinances

Documents deficiencies and deviations from approved plans and applicable codes; generates reports both in electronic and in paper form

Maintains, updates, and assures the accuracy of inspection records, project documentation, and project files, both electronic and in paper form

Respond to requests for information; provide technical information to City Staff; provide assistance to the public within the scope of authority

Provides excellent customer service; answers questions and concerns related to residential and non-residential building, plumbing, and safety codes and requirements; consults with contractors and owners concerning deficiencies with code requirements
