Solid & Infectious Waste

The Champaign Health District protects our environment through its Solid and Infectious Waste Program.

The Champaign County Health District Solid Waste Program licenses and inspects solid waste facilities to assure compliance with Ohio Revised Code section 3734. This program is annually surveyed and approved by The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

The Champaign Health District inspects closed landfills, large generators of infectious waste, and investigates open dumping. Large generators of infectious waste are facilities that produce 50 lbs. or more of infectious waste per month. Large generators must register with the Ohio EPA. Complaints regarding any of these facilities are investigated as soon as possible.

The Champaign Health District ensures sanitary conditions in the collection, storage, and transportation of solid waste by inspecting and licensing solid waste haulers annually.
